JBS Deploys Sea Axe for Time-Critical Scottish Port Project

JBS has mobilised its patented Sea Axe Controlled Flow Excavation (CFE) innovation for a time-critical project at a Scottish Port – a major site in the country's energy transition strategy.

Working to a tight timeline, JBS prepared and deployed a four-person team within 10 days of initial contact. The project involves the removal of up to 8 metres of compacted sand surrounding 29 submerged piles. This will enable safe access for the future extraction of the 20-metre-long piles as part of the port’s large-scale redevelopment.

Sea Axe offers a precision-led excavation process designed to minimise seabed disruption while operating effectively in confined subsea environments. It is ideally suited to tasks requiring targeted, environmentally responsible material removal – particularly where accuracy and efficiency are critical.

The client's clear technical brief and collaborative approach played an important role in ensuring the rapid mobilisation. The alignment between client and contractor demonstrates the value of a shared commitment to delivery and technical standards.

Jo McIntosh, Sales and Marketing Director at JBS, said:

"This deployment shows exactly what Sea Axe was built for – delivering fast, controlled excavation where timing and precision matter. The ability to mobilise within 10 days reflects the commitment of our team and the strength of this relationship with a highly professional client. It's a great example of what can be achieved when capability meets urgency."

This is one of several current and upcoming Sea Axe engagements for JBS, as demand continues to grow across the energy and marine sectors. Alongside its controlled flow excavation work, JBS remains active across fabrication, blast containment and screw conveyor supply – supporting operations across the UK and beyond.
